POW WOW (:
First day:went for service.
took transport to Sarimbun Scouts Campsite.
then all the admin stuff.
most ERs were put in the same group, 15.
same of them were put in other groups to help out.
members:
jinghan
elhannah
kerrie
abigail
myself
matthew
guihong
joshua
clark
glenn
ck
shawn
and there's one guy whom i forgot.
HAHA. i always tend to forget one person from my group.
anyway, yup. we were happy with the grouping.
cos no commanders were attached to us!
but uh, we were sort of left on our own.
so there's some sort of pressure for us to be responsible for ourselves.
and we were so isolated!
haha. we felt quite left out initially,
because the commanders kept forgetting about us.
they addressed the campers as group1 to group14, and forgot about group15.
haha.
and they forgot to set up tables for us to have meals.
so the guys set up our own.
later, we had games.
but i didnt join, cos they asked some of us to go learn the mass dance so we could teach.
the song for the mass dance is the HSM theme song,
which is in tune to our theme, We Are One.
brendan then made me and cmdr(i forgot his name. tired lah. haha.) to stand in the front to help teach.
after mass dance, we had devotion and lights off.
guihong and i had to attend cmdrs meeting.
Second day:rise and shine.
parade and devotion.
mass dance.
breakfast.
played games with group14.
jamin's group.
SUPER funny.
we lost all the games.
and we lost to ARs.
all younger kids.
but it was fun lah.
at one point, when we almost won, we started cheering.
jamin started laughing and said,
"walau. so happy for what? winning ARs only."
HAHA.
then we went abseiling.
stupid lah.
the commanders were making "bets" that i'd definitely scream.
and yes, i did.
so when i came down,
my brother's group gave me a special cheer.
the "Screaming Cheer".
what the heck lah.
HAHA.
but eh.
i'm afraid of heights.
so don't laugh alright.
then it was high rope courses.
i did NOT scream ok.
just made so noises.
but alright lah.
i think i'm not so afraid of heights anymore.
dinner.
service was great. i shall talk about the spiritual aspect at the end of my post.
then we had persecuted church.
or more commonly known as "underground church".
we're supposed to go from station to station.
at each station, there'd be two commanders.
one would be a policeman, the other an underground christian.
there's no telling which is which,
so we have to ask THE question based on gut instinct.
(THE question: Do you know the day and hour of our Lord's return?)
(THE answer: No one knows the day and hour of our Lord's return.)
i wanted to wear shorts.
then matthew was like,
"if i were you, i wouldn't."
he was wearing berms himself.
so jh went,
"you're not wearing long pants either."
and he was like,
"she's super prone to bites lah."
HAHA.
which is true.
so for the camp, i wore long pants most of the time.
not so many bites.
but super warm k.
at our first station, we met KK and Steph jie.
we made the wrong decision to ask KK.
his answer: No one knows.
it sounded correct.
so we were damn happy.
but his clue led us to the Multi-Purpose Hall.
we couldn't find anything there,
and we kept running away cos we noticed commanders posing as policemen catching people to the prison.
we then remained silent and thought through.
and realised KK's answer was wrong.
haha.
then we had to surrender ourselves.
which is super dumb.
cos we were supposed to get caught at the MPH.
but we spent 20 min running away.
cmdr wenkang and rongqing brought us to the Changi Prison.
but it was occupied,
so they brought us to the Boys' Home, where they rejected us cos we're ERs.
HAHA.
so okay lor.
the game continued.
fun lah.
we learnt to work as a team.
and we asked all the right people for the rest of the game.
we lost though,
cos we didnt make it to the Hiding Place before rapture took place.
supper.
cmdrs meeting.
bathe.
sleep.
Third Day:rise and shine.
parade and devotion.
mass dance.
breakfast.
games all the way till lunch.
we ruled!
we rocked!
we won!
HAHA.
not jamin's group though.
it was against group11, another AR group.
after lunch was archery.
i was aiming for the same spot,
but too high.
haha.
combined games was funny.
at the end of the games, we were supposed to run across the field towards the flag poles, while the cmdrs try to wet us with water bombs.
when the game started,
the ERs had one strategy:
just stand there and wait till the end.
cos the cmdrs would have less bombs by then.
HAHA.
BUT after a few minutes, cmdr mark noticed us.
haha.
so he reminded the cmdrs to save some bombs cos ERs are all still dry.
i was standing with glenn.
so after the game restarted again,
we ran together.
until one spot, i was quite lost, didn't know what to do.
cos all the ERs were dispersed.
and i refused to get wet!
HAHA.
so glenn grabbed me and we chiong-ed all the way.
yes, we didnt get wet!
(:
all ERs made it.
EXCEPT FOR CLARK.
what a joke lah.
HAHA.
he ALMOST made it.
and all the ERs were like,
CLARK! WHAT YOU DOING!
haha.
and being the usual him,
he just smiled and shrugged.
hahaha.
then dinner.
service.
campfire.
campfire was great.
ERs tried to lift up the spirits by being high ourselves.
HAHA.
supper.
bathe.
NO SLEEP.
we went back our A-huts.
and we were like,
HEY! it's the LAST night.
so we went to the canteen to play cards.
leon kena-ed the first forfeit.
so we taped two torches to his head,
made him walk around the field,
go up the podium,
sang us a song.
consequently,
our forfeit was to drink greenbean soup.
well, technically eat.
cos there wasn't much "soup".
quite dumb though.
haha.
faith people stayed up to talk.
our "fellowship" was playing dumb games.
but we had fun. (:
Last Day:
slept at 4.30am,
woke up at 6.30am.
did flag raising.
parade and devotion.
mass dance.
phototaking.
breakfast.
cleaned up.
went home.
YAY.
all in all,
i really had fun.
got to know some new friends.
people like glenn and jinghan.
old friendships strengthened.
people like kerrie, abigail and valencia.
i was really, truly happy to meet my fellow JTT-ians.
some didn't turn up though.
like Lester and antoinette.
but really.
i learnt leadership skills through this camp.
though this camp isn't a training camp.
but we learnt to apply what we learnt from all our training camps.
it was truly great to see the ERs bonding together.
spiritual aspect:i mentioned that i was expecting something from God right?
and God met my expectations.
first service, i was quite disappointed that there weren't any altar calls.
second service, i was super looking forward to altar call.
but as Ps Aaron listed the items for the altar call,
i didn't feel led to answer any.
that was when i realised something.
it's time to give.
not just receive.
camp after camps, i've been receiving.
but now it's time to give.
and i truly understood what it meant when the Bible said,
"it's more blessed to give, than to receive."
God really showed me a lot.
and He gave me a vision to share.
He really ministered.
His presence was SO strong.
overpowering.
i didnt regret going for Pow Wow.
i didnt regret Pow Wow over youth camp.
and i know,
Rangers is the ministry God called me to serve in.
and i'm committed to serve whole-heartedly.
TO REACH, TO TEACH, TO KEEP BOYS AND GIRLS FOR JESUS CHRIST.
(i didnt take pictures. will upload once they're uploaded in the rangers webbie.)
